Josh Goodbaum, MSW, RSW
I am Registered Social Worker, with degrees in Social Work (MSW, Carleton University), Education (BEd, University of Toronto) and Psychology (BAH, Queen’s University). I work from an affirming and anti-oppressive perspective.  I enjoy working with (and learning from) diverse clientele, and I have experience and training in supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) children, youth and adults.

As a therapist, I take a strengths-based approach to my work. This means that I believe that all people are capable of making positive change in their lives, and that I feel it is important to identify (and build upon) my clients' existing skills, values and supports.

I do not believe that there is a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, and so I tailor my work with my clients to their goals and individual preferences.  I have had experience and training in various counselling approaches, including solution-focused therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, narrative therapy and emotion focused family therapy (to name just a few).

I am extremely passionate about supporting improved mental health and wellbeing.  Outside of my therapeutic work I have contributed to the field by facilitating workshops, conducting research, supervising therapists and student trainees, presenting at conferences and publishing for academic and community audiences on the topics of mental health diagnosis, trauma and gender identity.

If you have any questions about my approach, values or experience, please get in touch!
